The power of song!

I have been quite happy recently with my kid's progress in Spanish. I have caught my son talking on the phone with my mum saying more than the "Hola" and "Te quiero mucho, adios!" that he used to say before quickly passing on the phone to me with a "I did not understand anything she said" face.

But particularly, I have been happy with my daughter's recent singing,just singing. I keep finding her playing with her toy and happily singing some of the Spanish songs that she has been taught at Language Stars. Not only that, since we got their CD "Around the World with Language Stars" she has also started to sing in French!!!

It is quite funny to watch, however I need to be very quiet, as soon as she sees me, she stops. I guess she is still a bit shy.

There are two songs she seems to like, the Elephant (both in English and French) and one that is about being ill - It says something like this: "Achooo Oh Mama, no me siento bien"

The Elephant song is quite fun. It starts with one elephant balancing on a spider web, then as he sees he is not falling he calls a friend. Then the 2 call another friend and so on! you keep singing until you get tired and make the elephants fall out of the web!

I am quite fond of the elephant song as I use to sing it to my son when he was a baby and did not want to eat. I would start singing to him to distract him and would put mouthfuls of baby food in his mouth at the same time. For as long as I was singing we would eat!, some times there will be more than 20 elephants on that spider's web!!

I will keep playing the CD in the car as I want to learn some of the songs myself, but also so my baby girl can keep singing to me with her beautiful little voice.
